    ESV June 14

    To continue in the Bible Verse calendar, here are downloads for the month of June in three versions, ESV, KJV, and NIV.

    It’s JUNE, and it just so happens to be my favorite month – what with my birthday being the 14th, and our wedding anniversary the 1st (Yes, Yes, YES! We are celebrating our 1st anniversary in just a couple of days!!!!) The red and yellow with sunflowers on the three were our wedding decorations and are very My-taste. (Did you know that I have a whole series on here themed “Getting Married” which is a weekly countdown to our wedding? Check it out!)

    Each month’s file will cost $2.00 and the full year is available at a discounted $20.00. Please visit my shop for more.

    Instructions:

    1. Download the .pdf file from my Teachers Pay Teachers shop.
    2. Print onto white 8.5 x 11 card-stock (other colors might be ok, but you’ll have to test that out yourself).
    3. Cut along the dotted lines then sort into numeric order.
    4. Prop up on a little stand, or keep in a drawer and swap out on the fridge. Or buy a recipe box with a ridge in the top for easy reading.
    5. Keep in a prominent place where the members of the household will easily see it. The kitchen table is good, if you have breakfast there.
    6. Discuss verse(s) with family and encourage reading the surrounding verses for context and meditation throughout the day.

  • He Keeps Me Singing

    All my life was wrecked by sin and strife,

    Jesus wept across the broken strings,
    Stirred the slumb’ring chords again.

    Feasting on the riches of His grace,
    Resting ‘neath His shelt’ring wing,
    Always looking on His smiling face,
    That is why I shout and sing.

    Tho’ sometimes He leads thro’ waters deep,
    Trials fall across the way;
    Tho’ sometimes the path seems rough and steep,
    See His footprints all the way.

    “He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.”

    The Story:

    This song is written by Luther B Bridgers, 1884-1948. He met and married his wife, Sarah Vetch, in 1903. They had 3 sons and while he was preaching a revival about 7 years later, she and the boys stayed at her parents’ house. Luther got a call late that night that there was a fire and his wife and sons were all killed.  Out of the grief and tragedy, he wrote the lyrics and melody for this song.

    For whatever reason, the song was playing on repeat in my mind tonight. Though our hearts make poor instruments, the Master Musician can make sweet music from the broken strings and even repair them. That healing love is wonderful.
